Home!!

Well, we survived our first 24 hours home.  It has been overwhelming in both good and bad ways. The good is that she is bettter,  our family is together, my mom is here helping us, I got to sleep in a bed! Lilah is doing well--she automatically just seems better at home, out of that sad hospital crib, and unattached to monitors (most of the time).  The bad is just the adjustment to this new way of life for us...the medications, the monitor, the worry, etc.  Paul has this really wise, old friend (old as in "length of friendship" not years) who has always given him great advice.  His words today, "inch by inch is a cinch, yard by yard gets hard".  Super corny, but so true!  And, exactly where we are, or are trying to be...taking it one day at a time.

I want to thank all of you who have emailed, called, sent cards, gifts, flowers, cleaned my house, visited us in the hospital, brought/sent us food.  We are so humbled by your thoughtfulness.  I am going to do my best to thank each of you personally, but in case it's  2 years until I get to it or you sent me a ham and I thank you for flowers:), I want you to know it has all been so very appreciated.

Gina and Paul-
I agree with Paul's friend. When we realized that Hutton wasn't going to be a "typical" baby, I was so overwhelmed! My father in law shared w/me that years ago when he had a brain tumor, The Lord never gave him the grace to get through that year but he did give him the grace to get through each minute and that is what I cling to when I am tired or overwhelmed. The Lord SOMEHOW gets me through each moment and all is good.
We will keep you in our prayers and of course, Lilah.
Love,
Jill and David Johnson

I'm sure that you can be excused from sending thank you's. You've got enough on your plate. just keep positing good news! :)

Gina & Paul,

First of all...don't even THINK about sending me a thank you for the gift...your post yesterday brought me to tears with your faith and honesty...it is more than I am imagine! I am so glad to hear you are home and hope you continue to post as often as you can. Also, I wondered if you have the Michael W. Smith CD Stand...the song "Oh God, You're Beautiful" is so perfect for you...also, "Cover me" is good for the love you are feeling...my personal favorite on this CD is "Be Lifted High" but the whole CD is so good. If you don't have it, I will drop a copy in the mail to you...let me know! Love & prayers! The Kains

I've followed your journey thanks to a Sunday School friend who is a friend of yours and asked us to pray for you. I've felt compassion and amazement as a fellow mother, wondering how I would feel, what I would do, do I have faith as strong as yours.....

But out of all of the posts, I cried today reading your "Home" post. God's mercy is so evident, not only through His hands on Lilah, but through your amazing faith. There is no doubt that good can come from bad - God has used you, your husband and your children to touch so many people.

We are just so thankful that you all are home! Please do not feel the need to thank anyone, we all know how appreciative you all are.
Praise the Lord for He is good, His love endures forever.....

I loved the words you wrote from Caedmon's Call on your last post. What truth stands behind those words and behind your life right now. Matt and I are so thankful for your return home and your faith in your great God. Just to let you know... when Jackson was telling me who to pray for the other night he said, "Garrett, Garrett's sister". I'm not sure how he remembered that b/c I had only told him once about praying for little Lilah, Garrett's sister. So the Lord is placing Lilah and your family even on the heart of a little 2 year old boy :)
